Lord Hastings appointed Patron of Transformation Enterprise Network

Transformational Enterprise Network (TEN) is delighted to announce that Lord Dr Michael Hastings of Scarisbrick CBE has agreed to be Patron.

TEN is a new network of Christian business people who use their skills and resources to develop enterprise solutions to poverty. The network was registered as a Charity this year. TEN has already provided business training, mentoring, finance and a new skills centre in Teso, the poorest region of Uganda as well as providing business start-up training in the UK and South Africa. Members’ projects include an impact business providing jobs and supporting peace Palestine; a social enterprise providing training and employment for refugees in the UK; and a wealth creation project which also dramatically reduced crime in part of South India.

Lord Hastings is Chancellor of Regents University London and Professor of Leadership, Stephen R Covey Institute at Utah State University in the USA. He is also Governor of the Vodafone /Safaricom supported MPESA Academy in Nairobi, Kenya and a Trustee of the Africa Philanthropy Forum, VP of UNICEF, Chairman of Council of ZANE and Ambassador for TEAR FUND. Previously, Lord Hastings was the Head of Citizenship at KPMG International and before this was the BBC’s Head of Public Affairs and then its first Head of Corporate Social Responsibility.

TEN was founded by Jerry Marshall, a serial impact entrepreneur who led Transformation Business Network for five years until 2012. He launched TEN with TBN’s blessing when TBN’s UK Membership activities were closed. Jerry first met Michael Hastings in the late1980s when he was founding a social enterprise in Coventry to support long term unemployed people and Michael was working for a faith centred enterprise programme.

“I have always valued Michael’s advice and support,” said Jerry Marshall, “and I’m thrilled that a man of his stature, experience and integrity has agreed to be our Patron. We believe we have a crucial role as an entrepreneurial Christian network bringing sustainable change through enterprise for some of the most disadvantaged communities in the world.”

“I have always been focussed on how to empower those who have the disadvantage of poverty or the limitation of opportunity”, said Lord Hastings. “We need to bring their potential to forefront of our minds and bring in the powerful who make decisions to see their hidden strengths …and entrepreneurship is one of the best investment means to level up the space where all whose skills are needed in every corner of the world can make their moments count each day …and that’s the mission for TEN. I’m honoured to support it.”

Transformational Enterprise Network is a CIO, registered in England and Wales, Charity Number 1194973
