TEN Member Richard Smart is passionate about tackling poverty in Uganda through enterprise. He has seen the difference that small ethical business loans can make.

TEN encourages those in hardship to start small with what they have but there are situations where enabling a local farmer to buy 100 chickens, for example, can transform the life of a family or a community for good. TEN has provided a small revolving loan fund and Richard is hoping to develop this further.

Richard has been travelling regularly to Uganda since 2002 and he and his team have already made a significant impact in several local communities.

He is seeking donations for small projects, in order to make loans (typically £500-£2,000 for poultry or piggery projects).

He is also seeking loans for larger projects, email him for more information. Richard can be emailed at: [email protected]
