July Gathering: the extraordinary story of Martin Zuch
From failure to success, building 130,000 hives and selling 700 tonnes of African honey a year.
Martin Zuch had a highly successful career in finance in the UK. When he became a Christian he began to use his skills to tackle poverty in Africa. He borrowed and invested millions to start two farms including a large banana plantation in Zambia but they were hit by disease and corruption and failed.
Then he tried honey with a unique model. Now, they produce 700 tonnes a year and Mama Buci African honey is sold in UK stores from Costco to Holland and Barratt to Selfridges. Around 10,000 families benefit. He also started a school and a new project in Ethiopia.
