April 2022 gathering: Charlie Donald on Rammed Earth

Charlie Donald presentation to the TEN gathering on 8 April 2022 was a fascinating insight to the beauty and potential of rammed earth construction. 

He is a brilliant civil engineer based in Dubai who has managed an extraordinary range of projects. As well as managing the build of a couple of luxury hotels in Saudi, his company Intentional is involved with affordable Rammed Earth housing in Uganda; a city of refuge in Georgia; plans for an African Village resort in Zanzibar; housing for Syrian refugees and a field hospital in Ukraine.

Rammed Earth is his particular passion because of its sustainability, architectural quality, building health and performance and speed of construction.
